How this calculator works
An oven cycles its heating elements after reaching temperature, so nameplate wattage multiplied by the full cooking time can overstate typical energy use. The duty-cycle field estimates the share of time the elements are actively heating.
Door openings, temperature, convection mode, cookware, food mass, and insulation all affect the real cycle. A meter or manufacturer cooking-energy test provides a better benchmark when available.
A 2,400-watt oven used for 75 minutes at a 60% duty cycle and $0.18/kWh costs about $0.32 per cooking session.
How to get a more accurate estimate
